Starting

This is my first post on this blog, which is dedicated to recording my experiments with with the exercises and my research for my OCA Drawing Skills 1 course.

This blog is part of my overall assessment, and is a definitive part of the course to help both my tutor and myself examine the thinking behind my exercises and final assignments.

I have no formal training in art beyond first year GCSE and have never gone beyond sketching and felt tip pens, however I do want to learn how to use my mediums effectively and creatively.  I also am very interested in getting my head around focal points, shading, light and depth, textures and pretty much everything else that forms the basics and foundations of good drawing skills.

I’m hoping that I can incorporate my colourful background and performance influences into some of my pieces, as well as taking inspiration from the many cultures I have been lucky enough to witness so far during my life time.

  1. Welcome! My art education never got beyond the second year of my secondary school. So GCSE is way beyond that. I started Drawing 1 about a month ago. Early days.
